I would like this as well, when I try and use the auto patcher it ends up running the repair tool and trying to download the whole client.
Please give us the manual patch. none of us are free as long as one of us is chained none of us are free |

Well Chruker now lists a "_m" patch for the latest SISI version
http://content.eveonline.com/test/evepremiumpatch214371-216164_test_m.exe
However that also launches the repair tool, checks everything and then decides to go away and download over 1.4 gb. Which craps out after 20% or so here.
I really hope this isn't the direction CCP want to take with all future patches. none of us are free as long as one of us is chained none of us are free |

Originally by: Wezzord The SiSiLauncher has to be run with administrator right to work correctly. So if some of you haven't run it like that, then try it. Another thing it could be is some problems with the cache. Try to locate %appdata%/Local/CCP/EVE . That's for windows 7 but I think it is the same for xp if you remove the "local" folder from the search string (maybe someone could confirm this). Found a couple of folders named singularity in there. Try to delete them. It should not be harmful in any way since everything probably is just cache and temp files. Then if I were you I would delete the whole SiSi installation folder and let the SiSiLauncher copy TQ over again and patch it up.
Hope it helps, at least for someone =)
Its not that the SISIlauncher does not start / launch correctly (at least for me) its that the thing crashes out of the download and / or checking process part way through.
Any how bump back to the top until some CCP person decides to comment.

Originally by: CCP Atropos As you've all seen, the patcher starts a similar process to the repair tool. We are thinking about moving the patching process over to something similar to the repair tool, since as far as we were able to tell, it worked well. From what I've read here, there are obviously problems in this assumption, and I would like to fix the bugs in the process.
We're not intending to continue to support the versioned patching that EVE has used, because it's a considerable overhead for us in terms of both maintenance and upkeep as well as developer manhours.
I really want to make sure that the update process is as smooth as possible, but I need helpful feedback from all of you posting in this thread, about your experiences with the patching process at the moment. This means, not ranty posts about how "it's **** and CCP is **** and the old one was better..." but rather something constructive for example, "started patching at 1pm, downloaded some data, then spent an hour waiting for it to do something, then it posted this log in the tool...".
Also, as Tippia pointed out, any ideas you have for improving it, we'll listen to.
My primary concern is not that the new process has some problems at the moment, this is only the test server after all and bugs can/will be fixed SoonÖ.
I am much more worried about CCP moving to this type of patching in the future because I have a poor internet connection and pretty much rely on download managers to ensure I get a complete patch. With out a manual patch file to download it could take me a long time to get a successful autopatch / sisilauncher type affair.
Please don't remove the manual patches. none of us are free as long as one of us is chained none of us are free |

This is a good example of a use case that our plans don't currently cater for. Thanks
Could you restate that? I read that as "people with crappy internet connections are SOL come patch time", please tell me that I misunderstand what was meant.
I read it as "oh, crap, people still have crappy connections and even dial up out there!? " But yes not everyone (even in the western world) has 10mb cable to the door, some of us manage on less than 500kbs speeds.
Originally by: Inara Subaka Manual patches (via download managers) are the only way I'm able to get onto SiSi (and TQ) due to rather flaky internet at my current location, if they go away there will be no way for me to get online without redownloading the entire client every time, and that would make me a sad panda.
This is exactly my situation, moreover this process (if the constant failed downloads continue) would blow my monthly quota well out of the water. none of us are free as long as one of us is chained none of us are free |
